The latter were the centre-back partnership that formed the basis of the Nerazzurri's historic treble season under Jose Mourinho in 2009-10.
And summer arrival Miranda is hopeful of making a similar impact for the rebuilding club along with Murillo, although he stated they must prove themselves worthy of such comparisons.
"I already knew Murillo from the times we played against each other for our clubs and countries," the 30-year-old told Tuttosport. "Our first match together went very well, but I think we can still improve. We will perfect our understanding for the team to have a great season.
"He's a great player in my opinion, a young man who is developing. He's strong, has good technical quality, is fast and has everything it takes to become one of the best around.
"I just hope I've picked up the best traits from all the team-mates I've played with in the past to become a better player myself today. I am one who always wants to win and prefer not to be too flashy, but effective instead.
"I think the comparison of the partnership to that of Lucio and Samuel is valid given our similar characteristics, but they won everything at Inter. We have not won anything yet though, so we'll have to do that and then we can talk."
The San Siro giants have reinforced heavily this summer as they aim to return to the top of Italian and European football, although Miranda believes securing Champions League qualification is a realistic target for now given Juventus are favourites to win another Scudetto.
"I think the club have made some moves to strengthen and I'm expecting a spectacular season in which Serie A will be one of the best leagues in Europe," he continued.
"We are a team with many new players. Our minimum goal is to get to the Champions League and from there we will see if we also have the chance to win the league title. But our first goal is to finish in the top three.
"Juve are a great team and they have already demonstrated that in past seasons. Still, I am ambitious and want to win everything. We have to play against them to see where we really are and try to beat them in order to close the gap."
Roberto Mancini's side kicked off their Serie A campaign with a 1-0 win against Atalanta last weekend and travel to promoted Carpi on Sunday.
